Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism left him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
